Using an intersectional framework, we will come together to explore through writing our everyday experiences of oppression and collective forms of liberation, using a trans-feminist approach. We will have a workshop in view of forming a collective that would meet monthly in Edinburgh to continue the experience.
The intention is to build a collective space of care, moving from self-care to mutual and community care. The workshop is facilitated by Silvia Cirronis and Paolo Plotegher as an extension of the Autocoscienza Writing Group, an Italian London-based collective, aligned with trans-feminist and queer politics and practices, that has been using experiential writing since May 2022 which continues to this day. You find them at https://awg-london.com/ .
In their words: “scrittura di esperienza (experiential writing) focuses on the off-topic, the fragment, the embodied, the non-binary and the affective as feminist methods to deconstruct dominant forms of language and knowledge production.”
We will gather, read, and reflect on feminist writings. We will then creatively tend to emerging emotions by writing and creating individually and as a group.
The workshop is free. We aim to keep the number of participants to 20.
