An Art Therapies Private Practice: Legalities and Considerations

A full day workshop with two experienced Art Psychotherapists/Supervisors looking at the considerations needed to start a private practice in the Arts therapies sector.

The first half of the day will consist of a lecture focusing on the guidelines and things legally needed to start a private practice, finishing with a large group discussion.

The second half of the day will focus on the considerations which can be personal for the therapist and their chosen client group. This will be in the form of a short lecture followed by small groups and concluding with a large group discussion.

Outcomes:  After the therapists have completed the workshop they will have a basic understanding of the legalities running a small private practice and have time and support to workshop creating the private practice best for the therapist and their chosen client group.

Artphobes Anonymous

Does the thought of drawing a picture on a blank page fill you with a sense of self doubt, frustration and certain failure before you have even begun? If so, this workshop is for you.

Artphobes Anonymous

Do you consider yourself lacking in creative ability? Were you told at school that you're just not artistic and that you shouldn't even bother trying? Does the idea of drawing a picture fill you with a sense of certain failure?

Despite all of that, do you have a sneaky suspicion that you might still enjoy making art, but don't know how to start? If so, this class is for you.

This class isn't primarily about learning how to draw a picture per se, or learning the technicalities of art materials. This class is about nurturing the seed of artistic confidence in you, through mindful, carefully explained drawing exercises.

In a safe and small group setting, we will work on acknowledging uncomfortable feelings of frustration and self doubt. We will work on breathing through the panic that the blank page can bring up in us. We will work on recognising each other's successes in lieu of comparing ourselves to others. We will work on answering back to that teacher, that smarmy classmate, that parent -- who told you weren't any good.

Our goal is to encourage you to begin your own journey of artistic discovery. By the end of our time together, you will have build a greater confidence, patience, and compassion towards your neglected inner artist.

The space will be held by artist and tutor Topaz Pauls The workshop will be 10-4pm with an hour's lunch (BYO or enjoy many of the local cafes).

Book Here

Please bring a notebook with you. All other materials will be provided.

Disclaimer: though inherently therapeutic in nature, this class is not art therapy or psychotherapy, and I am not a therapist. If you need to step out to process any feelings that come up, you are welcome to take any time out that you need. I will be a compassionate listener, but please be mindful not to take the lid off anything that might overwhelm you.

Styling Your Authentic Self

Styling Your Authentic Self

Remember that sparkly dress, that red cape, that blue eyeshadow that made your heart soar?

As children, we instinctively knew that what we wear can be a joyful, powerful form of self-expression.

But as adults, it’s easy to lose touch with that spark. Trends, rules, and fashion “shoulds” can drown out our inner voice.

This playful, creative workshop invites you to find your authentic style through reconnecting with your inner child and the other parts that make up your whole self.

This isn’t about following fashion rules, it’s about showing up as you.
