Historical Crafts Society - Middle Byzantine
Come learn about different crafts in history! Each month, we will pick a period in history (chosen by members) and look into a chosen technique, craft or creative pursuit from that time. Then we gather, share and have a crafting hour. This can be anything from embroidery to dressmaking to painting.
The club is welcome to all, it’s directed at all levels, and all types of crafters. It’s a space to meet people, learn and create!

Open Day - Art Therapy Experiential
Come join us for our open day! Biscuits, coffee and tea included. Get to know the space, our therapists and what Art Therapy is all about.

Consciousness Raising Writing Group
Join us for a free workshop exploring everyday experiences of oppression and liberation through writing. Using an intersectional, trans-feminist approach, we’ll reflect, read feminist texts, and engage in creative writing—individually and as a group. This is a space for care, moving from self-care to community care.
Facilitated by Silvia Cirronis & Paolo Plotegher, this workshop is an extension of the Autocoscienza Writing Group, a London-based collective using experiential writing as a feminist method. Together, we aim to form a monthly writing collective in Edinburgh.

Artphobes Anonymous
Does the thought of drawing a picture on a blank page fill you with a sense of self doubt, frustration and certain failure before you have even begun? If so, this workshop is for you.
Artphobes Anonymous
Do you consider yourself lacking in creative ability? Were you told at school that you're just not artistic and that you shouldn't even bother trying? Does the idea of drawing a picture fill you with a sense of certain failure?
Despite all of that, do you have a sneaky suspicion that you might still enjoy making art, but don't know how to start? If so, this class is for you.
This class isn't primarily about learning how to draw a picture per se, or learning the technicalities of art materials. This class is about nurturing the seed of artistic confidence in you, through mindful, carefully explained drawing exercises.
In a safe and small group setting, we will work on acknowledging uncomfortable feelings of frustration and self doubt. We will work on breathing through the panic that the blank page can bring up in us. We will work on recognising each other's successes in lieu of comparing ourselves to others. We will work on answering back to that teacher, that smarmy classmate, that parent -- who told you weren't any good.
Our goal is to encourage you to begin your own journey of artistic discovery. By the end of our time together, you will have build a greater confidence, patience, and compassion towards your neglected inner artist.
The space will be held by artist and tutor Topaz Pauls The workshop will be 10-4pm with an hour's lunch (BYO or enjoy many of the local cafes).
Please bring a notebook with you. All other materials will be provided.
Disclaimer: though inherently therapeutic in nature, this class is not art therapy or psychotherapy, and I am not a therapist. If you need to step out to process any feelings that come up, you are welcome to take any time out that you need. I will be a compassionate listener, but please be mindful not to take the lid off anything that might overwhelm you.
