Our Affiliated Therapists
Our Affiliated Therapists are experienced, qualified practitioners who work independently from our Edinburgh space. In the same way as our resident team, they are fully registered with their professional body (HCPC, UKCP or BACP), hold their own insurance, and manage their own practice, including enquiries, bookings, and availability.
To work with an Affiliated Therapist, you contact them directly using the details on their profile. CATS does not manage their waiting lists, referrals, or scheduling.
What this means for you as a client:
You book and communicate with your therapist directly
All Affiliated Therapists offer fees on a sliding scale in line with the CATS fee framework, so access is not dependent on what you can afford, they may have higher fees if they participate in the Pay What You Can programme.
Some Affiliated Therapists also participate in our Pay What You Can programme, which may allow for a further reduced rate in certain circumstances, you can ask your therapist directly whether this applies to them
Your therapist holds full clinical responsibility for your care, the duty of care agreement applies in the same way it does to Tier 3 Resident Therapist, with a difference in time committed to CATS.
CATS verifies that all Affiliated Therapists hold current professional registration, insurance, and PVG membership where required, and we remain the professional home they practise from
Affiliated Therapists choose to be part of the CATS community. While they practise with greater independence than our Resident Therapists, managing their own caseload, working to their own schedule, and engaging with CATS supervision and community events on their own terms, they are still bound by our Code of Ethics and Conduct and our commitment to accessible, ethical therapy.
They are a great fit if you are looking for a specific modality, have already done some therapeutic work and know what you need, or prefer to arrange therapy independently.
If you're not sure which pathway is right for you, get in touch at referrals@creativeartstherapiesspace.co.uk and we'll help you find the best fit.

A Note on Diversity in our Team
While our therapists bring a range of cultural perspectives, we are aware that at this stage our collective is predominantly white.
We recognise that shared lived experience can matter often in therapy.
If working with a Black, African or Asian therapist is important for what you want your therapeutic journey to be, you can find further resources through Black Minds Matter UK and BAATN which offers a trusted directory of accredited practitioners.
